We’re recruiting! Two new Independent (non-Executive) Members to sit on the Children’s Commissioner’s Audit and Risk Assurance Committee

Our mission is this: we listen to and speak up for children and young people in Wales so that children’s rights are protected, and we support challenge and influence public services in Wales to make a positive impact on their lives.

We’d love to find members for our Audit and Risk Assurance Committee who are as passionate as us about achieving positive outcomes in the lives of children and young people in Wales and their ability to access their rights.

We’re seeking two new independent members to sit on our Audit and Risk Assurance Committee. Members will be expected to scrutinise, challenge and provide independent advice to the children’s commissioner, Rocio Cifuentes MBE, on how her office is governed, how it manages risk and how effectively and efficiently the team utilises public funds.

We are particularly looking for people with financial skills and a background in financial management either in the public, private or third sector or people with experience in reviewing the comprehensiveness and reliability of assurances on governance and risk management either in the public, private or third sector. Experience of leading, conducting or reviewing audit activity is highly desirable as is experience and/or knowledge of children’s rights.

The appointment is for a term of three years and members will be invited to start in post in July 2024 (your first meeting is scheduled for 23 July).  The expected time commitment for this role is 6 days per year, not remunerated.
