The Commissioner has a legal duty to manage the money she receives from the Welsh Government to deliver her aims and statutory obligations.
Although the Commissioner is funded by the Welsh Government she is independent of Government and act as corporation sole and accounting officer.
As such, the Commissioner must make sure her office is properly managed and governed.
The Audit and Risk Assurance Committee has been established to support and advise the Commissioner on corporate governance, risk management and internal control.
The Committee consists of at least three members who do not work for the Commissioner, known as Non-Executive Members.
Members are appointed from the Commissioner’s Advisory Panel and must include the Chair of that Panel.
