Response to allegations of abuse at children’s home in Cardiff

9 June 2021

Responding to a BBC Wales investigation into allegations of abuse at a children’s home in Cardiff, Prof Sally Holland said:

“If you are a parent, a carer, or a young person and you have concerns or worries that you’d like to discuss after hearing this story, please get in touch with my office.

“And an important message to anybody reading this who works with children: if you have any concerns about children’s safety, or you have a feeling that something isn’t right, please report those concerns, however small they may seem to you. If staff in any organisation feel that their concerns are not being heard by their management team, they can contact my office where they can benefit from legal protections as whistle-blowers. In doing so, you will enable the right agencies to investigate allegations and to keep children safe.”
