Scouts & Guides: Rights Challenge

Are you ready for the Rights Challenge?

RightsChallenge

Keith, the Children's Commissioner, will on Saturday, 25 June, be joined by over 2,500 Scouts to launch the new Rights Challenge badge.

Launched to mark the tenth anniversary of the Commissioner’s Office in Wales, the badge will enable Scouts and Guides of all ages to learn more about children’s rights and about their Children’s Commissioner.

This is what Keith had to say before the event:

“I think it’s very fitting to mark this important milestone by launching a project that has the potential to reach thousands of children and young people of all ages from across Wales.

“The idea came about after an officer of mine who volunteers with the Scouts identified an opportunity for us to work with Scouts Wales to develop a badge all about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and about the role of the Children’s Commissioner. It’s the first of its kind so we jumped at the chance. I’m really looking forward to joining thousands of Scouts from all over Wales this weekend to launch it.”

Jill Gloster, Scouts Wales’ Chief Commissioner, added:

“We are delighted to be able to be able to welcome the Children’s Commissioner and his team to our All-Wales Cub Fun Day to launch the Rights Challenge badge and to help with their tenth anniversary celebrations. The activities associated with the badge are both informative and fun and so I’m sure it’ll be a popular choice for many of our members.”
