ENOC: European Network of Ombudspersons for Children
European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC)
Lots of countries across Europe have ‘children’s champions’; some are called Children’s Commissioners, like we’ve got in Wales, and others Ombudspersons, like Ireland’s Ombudsman for Children.
Many Commissioners and Ombudspersons are members of ENOC: a network which aims to improve the lives of all children in Europe. The Network was established in 1997 and now links independent human rights institutions for children from 23 European countries.
The Children’s Commissioner for Wales attends the major meeting every year to share information with other members and to discuss particular topics affecting children and young people. At this meeting, members also talk about joint-work, including possible statements about particular issues and topics.
