Advisory Groups

We have two young people’s advisory groups, one in North Wales and the other in South Wales. The young people on the advisory groups advise us on our work with children and young people.

The young people get training on things that help them to advise the office, like what the office does, children’s rights, team-working and recruitment.

What do the advisory groups do?

The young people on the groups:

  • advise us on how we work with children and young people
  • help us plan our work and also take part in some of the work with children and young people
  • advise us on the things we say and write (for example, how our website looks and if our reports and leaflets are children and young people friendly)
  • take part in the recruitment of new staff.

We involve lots of children and young people in deciding what things we work on. The advisory groups don’t decide what we do, but they help us to make sure that we work in a way that means lots of different children and young people can be involved.
